About our platinum

We certify all Roy platinum under international platinum standards. Every Roy piece (either a solid platinum piece, or one with platinum elements) is created at an international hallmark of 850 or higher.

Specifically, all Roy platinum pieces are either international 850, international 900, or international 950 platinum:

  • 850 Platinum consists of 85.0% pure platinum.
  • 900 Platinum consists of 90.0% pure platinum.
  • 950 Platinum consists of 95.0% pure platinum.

We are guided by the international standards of both the Vienna Precious Metals Convention of 1972 and the UK Hallmarking Act of 1973.

Both Acts are the highest accepted standards which facilitate the cross-border trade of precious metals while maintaining consumer protections.

For example, under the guidance of these conventions, it is commonly understood and accepted that an 850 platinum piece would consist of a mixture of 85.0% pure platinum with the remaining 15% composed of different metals such as iridium, palladium, or ruthenium. And a 950 platinum piece — our most refined — would consist of 95.0% pure platinum with only 5% composed of complementary alloy metals. Roy produces only 850, 900, and 950 platinum pieces. Nothing lower.
